If Loving Me Is Wrong...

“Something inside you emerges….an innate, indwelling peace, stillness, aliveness. It is the unconditioned, who you are in your essence. It is what you had been looking for in the love object. It is yourself.” - Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle's words sum up the moment before I wrote the poem below. To my BLM Girls, I'll be honest. It was also during the aftermath of ending a relationship. Something awakened in me, and I knew that the next person I'd fall in love with would have to be me.

But first, I had to figure out...

WHO I AM

I am a Woman as in man’s God-given mate.  I’m designed to walk beside him and with him procreate.

I am Black as in the color of my skin.  I represent my family of the present and those who have been.

I am Female, meaning I have sensuality and grace.  My presence is felt both when I enter and when I leave a place.

I am Full-figured.  That’s to say that I have a few extra pounds.  Depending on the situation, I can be as light as a feather or like a lion I will pounce.

I am Beauty, because by God I was uniquely made.  You will not find another like me in creation now or
after I’ve entered my grave.

I am Wisdom, because from life I have learned.  My knowledge was not given but through tears and joy, I’ve earned.

I am all these things and so very much more.  You will need to come closer if you want to see what else I have in store. copyright 2005 Trinka Polite
