Introducing... Denise DeSio

Since the release of my novel, Rose's Will, which is heavily autobiographical, I've been looking back. Finding old high school friends on Facebook, scouring my yearbooks looking for faces that are still familiar, reading those quippy little goodbye blurbs from fellow graduates scribbled in bad penmanship over embarrassing pictures as we stopped each other in the halls en route to our last few classes.

I was surprised to see how many of my classmates referred to my zaniness, wit, and willingness to do whatever it took to get a laugh. "Always stay as happy as you are," I read forty years later as stark and painful memories of my high school years in a violent home collided with the message.

In that moment, I was sure that happiness is deeper than circumstance and truer than fleeting emotion. It's not something we can learn or consciously create. Happiness is inside of us whether we know it or not. It's born of strength and belief in our power. We need to stay out of our own way and make room for it. --

I’m Trinka Polite! Georgia native! Aunt Extraordinaire (at least I think so)! Lover of divinely delicious food! Servant of God and I gratefully accept my calling as counselor, poet, and speaker. My mission?

As a counselor, it is to empower you to access your full potential and live more authentically!

As a poet, it is to share words to inspire love, deliverance from hurtful situations and encourage a renewed relationship with God.

As a speaker, it is to provide a dynamic experience which will actively engage you and your group in learning and growing.

My professional background includes over 14 years as a Career Counselor providing education planning and career guidance.  I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and National Board Certified Counselor with a Master’s degree in Psychology.  My publications include After the Sixth Day: Notes from a Spiritual Journey and Pain is Fertile Ground—poetry collections focused on spiritual awakening and growth.

On a more personal note, the southern lady that I am loves to cook (have you seen my Pinterest board?) and have fun with my family!  Are there any two things that bring more joy to a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl raised in the south)? Lol

I hope we stay connected because new ventures are on the way to enlighten your mind and to partner with you to chart a course for your success!

Peace & Blessings!
