Foodie Alert: Pizza! Pizza! & More

My Friends, did I ever tell you about the time I went to Peel Wood Fired Pizza? Oh my! Hmm how can I describe it? Each bite was a gentle explosion of flavors.

There are so many unexpected “marriages” on their menu; you’ll never get bored eating there. You’ll at least go back just to order the meal you had before to confirm it truly was THAT good! And speaking of their menu which has some heft to it...

it’s a work of art in itself!

The staff at the Edwardsville location [there’s a second location in O’Fallon, IL.] was friendly and patient in answering the questions of a first-time visitor. I mean how can you choose just one flavor of wings when your options are Maple Bourbon Black Pepper A reduction of Vermont maple syrup, bourbon, and butter tossed in cracked black pepper and house smoked bacon. Sweet Balsamic Aged balsamic vinegar reduction Alfredo Parmesan cream!

Or pizza cooked in this oven...

with these toppings Chicken Gorgonzola Wood fired chicken, gorgonzola, baby spinach, red onion, sun-dried tomato pesto, parmesan cream Hot Brown Smoked turkey, prosciutto, roma tomatoes, broccoli, mozzarella, parmesan cream, parmesan cheese. Just check out the full menu.

I encouraged our server to take care of her other customers because I was going to need some time.  Have you clicked on the menu link yet?  Anyway, after about 10 minutes (btw, our server did look over periodically to check on us), here’s what my sister and I had that day (descriptions courtesy of Peel Menu):

Spinach Artichoke Involtini

Bread filled with baby spinach, artichokes and fontina cheese, served with roasted red pepper hummus, parmesan cream and roasted garlic olive oil

Garlic Wings
Garlic chive butter

Caesar Salad

Romaine, parmesan, croutons, lemon caesar dressing

Maple Bourbon Pork pizza
Slow roasted pork, house smoked bacon, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, roma tomatoes, maple bourbon glaze

My apologies the medium disappeared before I could take pictures. It happens. However, you can enjoy Peel’s menu pics on Facebook. I promise to share pics from my next visit to this foodie delight.

Being a Georgia girl raised in the country surrounded by farms and small gardens, I love fresh tasting food from people who love food. And it seems like the owners and chefs  at Peel LOVE food! (Patrick and Brandon) Seriously, each bite happily introduces each ingredient to your taste buds and seconds later they melt into one and on the inside, you're all...

But if you are ever in the area, remember they have two locations: Edwardsville & O’Fallon, IL.  Even if you're visiting St Louis, Peel Wood Fired Pizza is approximately 20 minutes away. Again, I'm from Georgia, so plus or minus 10 minutes maybe--either way it's worth the drive.

Now it's your turn. Any Peel fans?  If you're not in the area, what is your favorite pizza place? I'd love to hear from you.

Important note: If Peel management is reading this post, may I please vote that you do not add delivery service? I read on your website that's a common question. Forgive them for they do not know what they're asking. LOL

  1. Big Italy in Virgina Beach, VA is the best pizza I've had to date. This post def has me intrigued, though, since pizza's my thing.
