Snow Day

Mesmerized by the sound of the wind and the snow swirling outside my window, I decided to capture it and set it to music. After watching it again, it may be the inspiration for a future poem. Click Snow Day to enjoy...

Your Thoughts, Please?

As you can see, I've updated the design of the blog. I've been tinkering with ideas for a couple of weeks. Still tweaking here and there but would love to read your comments/feedback on the blog's new look! :-)

Thank you!

Have You Said I Do?

Whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD. ~ Proverbs 18:22

Today is the start of National Marriage Week USA! Of course, it appropriately coincides with the day we celebrate love.  Their website describes the next seven days as “a collaborative effort to encourage many diverse groups to strengthen individual marriages, reduce the divorce rate, and build a stronger marriage culture…”  Sounds like something we should celebrate every day! Don’t you think?

And...for those yet to say “I do” like myself, how do we celebrate marriage? In my opinion, by honoring and respecting the institution of marriage.  As single women, we should be about our Father’s business until our “Boaz” finds us. {1Cor 7:32-35} Yoooo whoooo! Over here!

The National Marriage Week website has interesting info and activities. Some of the links are A Call to the Church, Date Night Challenge, Work on Your Own Marriage, and Start a Home Group.  Let me know your thoughts after you visit the site.

Also, I invite you to “collaborate” with me in celebrating love and marriage by commenting with your thoughts/tips on building stronger relationships and lasting commitments.

To my married women, I read this blog post the other day that I think you’ll really enjoy. I imagine it’ll definitely be a challenge, but you and your husband will enjoy the rewards!  It's the Intentional Woman Challenge. Oh and all the single ladies, you may want to bookmark this one for future reference. LOL

Enjoy National Marriage Week USA

If Loving Me Is Wrong...

“Something inside you emerges….an innate, indwelling peace, stillness, aliveness. It is the unconditioned, who you are in your essence. It is what you had been looking for in the love object. It is yourself.” - Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle's words sum up the moment before I wrote the poem below. To my BLM Girls, I'll be honest. It was also during the aftermath of ending a relationship. Something awakened in me, and I knew that the next person I'd fall in love with would have to be me.

But first, I had to figure out...

WHO I AM

I am a Woman as in man’s God-given mate.  I’m designed to walk beside him and with him procreate.

I am Black as in the color of my skin.  I represent my family of the present and those who have been.

I am Female, meaning I have sensuality and grace.  My presence is felt both when I enter and when I leave a place.

I am Full-figured.  That’s to say that I have a few extra pounds.  Depending on the situation, I can be as light as a feather or like a lion I will pounce.

I am Beauty, because by God I was uniquely made.  You will not find another like me in creation now or
after I’ve entered my grave.

I am Wisdom, because from life I have learned.  My knowledge was not given but through tears and joy, I’ve earned.

I am all these things and so very much more.  You will need to come closer if you want to see what else I have in store. copyright 2005 Trinka Polite
