Light Bulb Delayed

As I was cruising on this rainy day in Illinois, enjoying some old school music, I was reminded of something. I'm almost sure other creative writers will be able to relate. Have you ever read or heard a title (or any words) and thought “OMG! I wish I had thought of that first?” I have!!

Do you know what’s on the top of my list? When Doves Cry! Oh it evokes such a powerful image!  You can feel the hurt, the disappointment. You can imagine the depth of peace that existed before that moment, but more apparent is the excruciating pain that would cause doves to cry. Oh well. Guess I’ll let Prince have that one. :-)

Here are a few others I wish I could claim: Set Fire to the Rain, Beautiful Liar, I Can’t Stand the Rain.

Do you have any? Not everyone is a writer. So, please feel free to share anything you wish you had thought of first. Can’t wait to see your responses!

Throwback Thursday: The Next Big Thing

Hi everyone! Are you an avid reader? I am! Love books! Love to read! Love to write!

This week I’m participating in another Blog Hop! I originally posted the questions below back in October 2012. It’s a fun way for you to learn a little about different authors.

Thanks to Shirletta Armstrong for inviting me!  Please hop over to her blog as well. You’re sure to discover a great read or two to add to your library!

Q: What is the title of your book?

A: After the Sixth Day: Notes from a Spiritual Journey

Q: Where did the idea come from for the book?

A: I was originally researching the idea of writing a spiritual memoir. During that process, I had an “aha” moment--I realized that my poetry told the story of my spiritual journey. Life gave me a period of difficult and painful times. By surrendering to my circumstances, I was led to my awakening. That’s when I realized that every life experience served me in one way or another, and it does for you too! Therefore, I poured my heart into writing and publishing After the Sixth Day as a way of letting someone know that he or she is not alone. Keep moving forward. There is a blessing in the journey…

Q: What genre does your book fall under?

A: Poetry

Q: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A:
A poetry collection that reveals how the spirit is tested, awakened and strengthened
 through interaction with the world.

Q: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

A: My book was self-published. What a wonderful learning experience, and I’m still learning!

Q: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

A: approximately 6 months. It is my first book. Once I started writing, I realized that writing was my passion. I have an idea for a second edition of After the Sixth Day, plus I’ve started on the draft of my first novel.

Q: Who or What inspired you to write this book?

A: I would have to say divine intervention, because it wasn’t on my to-do list. *smile* When the idea came to me, my mind was flooded all at once with many thoughts. I wrote for days before I took a break. It was in those first few days that I was inspired and wrote the outlines for the current book and my two works-in-progress. So please stay tuned and stay connected!

Q: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

A: The book is designed for readers to "live with it" by utilizing the journaling pages between chapters. I'd be happy to hear your thoughts after finishing After the Sixth Day, Notes from a Spiritual Journey.
